University of Maryland Shore Regional Health, a private, not-for-profit health system, was rebranded in 2013 as the result of a merger in 2006 between Shore Health and University of Maryland Medical System and the acquisition of Chester River Hospital on July 01, 2013. The Memorial Hospital at Easton and Dorchester General Hospital join Chester River Hospital and the Queen Anne’s County based Emergency Center, constructed in 2011, as a network of world class health care and medical services for the 170,000 residents of Maryland’s five county Upper Shore Region (Talbot, Dorchester, Caroline, Queen Anne’s and Kent) and to the Delmarva Peninsula.
University of Maryland Shore Regional Health employs 2,000 workers and 200 physicians in the Upper-Shore area. The Memorial Hospital at Easton provides for 145-bed licensed beds and a broad range of primary and secondary inpatient acute care services including acute rehabilitation, medical and surgical, obstetrical/gynecological, pediatrics, oncology, renal, neuroscience and critical care services. Memorial Hospital is home to the region’s only Joslin Diabetes Center affiliate. Other specialty services offered at the hospital include the kidney transplant and dialysis vascular access clinics operated in partnership with the University of Maryland Medical System; the Cardio-Pulmonary Fitness and Wellness Center; the Regional Sleep Disorders Center; the Wound Healing Center; the Joint Replacement Center; Shore Regional Cancer Center and Requard Radiation Oncology Center; Shore Comprehensive Pain Care; and Three Rivers Hospice.
University of Maryland Shore Regional Health operates a network of outpatient locations across the five county region, with facilities in Easton, Cambridge, Centreville, Chestertown and Denton. The outpatient services include primary and specialty care physician practices, diagnostic imaging, laboratory testing, and physical, occupational and speech therapy. www.shorehealth.org
