Who is eligible?
Scholarships are available for Talbot County Parks and Recreation Programs only. The applicant must provide a copy of one of the following documents for proof of financial eligibility; a letter from an agency providing assistance, valid Priority Partners Insurance Card, or a valid Independence Card.
How does the program work?
Scholarships are limited to one per person, per season (maximum of 4 a year) and some restrictions do apply. For self-supporting programs the service must meet its minimum registration levels, which are defined internally for every program, before assistance is an option. If you are granted a scholarship, you may be responsible for a portion of the fee.
Requirements and Exceptions
Scholarships are available for most dpartment programs, with some exceptions. Scholarships are not available for bus trips, gift certificates, one time admissions, amusement park tickets, special events, and programs costing less than $15.
In addition the department does not supply scholarships for programs sponsored by other organizations, but that may be affiliated in some way with the department (i.e. CCYSA Soccer, Little League etc.). These organizations may provide their own discounts or family rates.
How to apply?
You may apply for a scholarship at any time. We encourage you to apply early in order to avoid delays at the time of registration. To apply you must provide a completed registration form, scholarship application, along with a copy of the documents listed above. You will be notified by a call from our office of your scholarship acceptance. You are not registered in the program until the scholarship application has been approved.
