Historic Preservation Commission
The Commission, now called the Historic Preservation Commission, consists of seven County residents appointed by the County Council for three-year terms. They are appointed on the basis of qualifications in architecture, history, historic preservation, advocacy, etc., according to standards established by State and Federal programs.
The Commissioners’ areas of interest are the villages and rural properties in the County, and County-owned resources. Among its activities are the establishment of Historic District Overlay Zones, review of exterior modification to District properties and the nomination of properties for the National Register of Historic Places.
TheTalbot County Historic Preservation Commission holds its regular monthly meetings in Conference Room 1, in the County office building at 215 Bay Street, Easton. Meetings are held on the first Monday of each month at 3 PM. In the event of County holidays meetings are scheduled for the second Monday. Commission agendas, minutes and other items are posted on this page. Public participation is welcomed and encouraged. Resolutions and proceedings are part of the public record.

2013 Maryland Preservation Plan
The Maryland Historical Trust (MHT) announced a new effort to update Maryland's State Historic Preservation Plan. The goal of the preservation plan is to gain a full understanding of the issues facing historical and cultural resources in Maryland and to identify innovative strategies for their recognition, long term care and enhancement.
MHT is conducting interviews with major stakeholders throughout the spring of 2013 and planning a series of public forums across the state in the early summer. The Trust is also seeking input from citizens in across the state of Maryland with an easy online survey about public opinions and issues, at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/MDPRESPLAN.
