DEPARTMENT OF PERMITS AND INSPECTIONS
The Department of Permits and Inspections is responsible for the administration and enforcement of building codes in Talbot County. The purpose of the codes is to provide minimum requirements to safeguard life or limb, health and public welfare. The codes shall apply to the construction, alteration, movement, enlargement, replacement, repair, equipment, use and occupancy, location, maintenance, removal and demolition of every building or structure or any appurtenances connected or attached to such buildings or structures in Talbot County.

Hours: M-F 8:00 - 4:30
(note: permits will not be accepted after 4:00)
Payment must be received upon applying for permit. Credit cards are not accepted as a form of payment. Please make all checks payable to Talbot County. Cash may also be accepted, but it must be exact change only.
Directions:
If coming from Rt. 322 North (Easton Bypass) turn right at St. Michaels Road traffic light onto Bay Street. Turn left off of Bay Street onto driveway to left (across from St. Mark's Village). There will be a pond on the left and right side. Take second driveway to right and look for signs that say Talbot County Government.
If coming from Rt. 50 Eastbound, take yield at Rt. 322 South (Easton Bypass). Go to fourth traffic light and make left at St. Michaels Road traffic light onto Bay Street. Turn left off of Bay Street onto driveway to left (across from St. Mark's Village). There will be a pond on the left and right side. Take second driveway to right and look for signs that say Talbot County Government.
