Press release provided by Talbot County Health Department
Talbot County pet owners are invited to take advantage of a low-cost rabies vaccination clinic for dogs, cats and ferrets on Saturday, May 4th, 2024 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm (with a rain date of May 11th). The clinic will be held at the rear side of the Talbot County Environmental Health building at 215 Bay Street in Easton.
Rabies is a fatal viral disease that can spread from infected animals to humans through bites or scratches. Vaccinating pets against rabies is critical to protecting both animal and human health in the community.
Pet owners can get their animals vaccinated against rabies for only 6 dollars per animal (cash or check accepted) during this two-hour event. No appointment is necessary, but pets must be on a leash or in a secure carrier and pet owners can save time by calling ahead at 410-770-6880 to pre-register.
"Rabies is a scary disease, but it's also 100% preventable just by keeping your pets up-to-date on their vaccinations," said Environmental Health Director Brennan Greene. "We urge all pet owners to take advantage of this inexpensive and convenient clinic to protect their pets."
Pets must be at least 12 weeks old to receive vaccination. Maryland law requires all dogs and cats 4 months and older to be vaccinated against rabies.
