Farmland preservation refers to the proactive effort to protect agricultural land from being converted to non-agricultural uses. The goal of farmland preservation is to safeguard agricultural resources, promote sustainable food production, preserve rural landscapes, and support farming communities.

Agricultural Preservation Easement Program - Maryland Agricultural Land Preservation Foundation
If you are the owner of eligible farmland and/or woodland, the Maryland Agricultural Land Preservation Foundation can help you by purchasing an agricultural preservation easement on your property. This will ensure that your property remains agricultural in perpetuity. To submit an application, see information below.

FY2025 Easement Application Now Open
The FY2025 Application can be completed and turn in physically to our office or emailed to the program administrator Elisa Deflaux no later than April 1, 2024.
