Talbot’s FiRST™ Brings Bold Mental Health Solutions to County’s First Responders

The steering committee of Talbot FiRST™ First Responder Support Team recently presented its program to the Talbot County Council. Talbot FiRST™ brings together multiple agencies and partners to support the mental health of all its first responders in Talbot County − launching a robust peer support team that creates a pathway for immediate access to For All Seasons’ trauma-certified mental health services and works intentionally to build in proactive resiliency training. Talbot County Implements Burn Ban Effective October 25, 2024

The Talbot County Council has enacted an Administrative Resolution imposing a complete ban on all open-air burning throughout the county. This burn ban will take effect on Friday, October 25, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. and will remain in place for 30 days, expiring on Sunday, November 24, 2024 unless extended or terminated by a subsequent resolution. Emergency Services Welcomes Two New Full-Time EMTs Following Completion of Apprenticeship Program

Talbot County Emergency Services is proud to announce the successful conclusion of its apprenticeship program for two Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs), Connor Flaherty and Geovanni “Geo” Greaves. The Talbot County Public School students, who joined the department as apprentices at the beginning of the 2023 academic year, were recently hired as full-time EMTs after completing their training and passing all required exams. Emergency Services Deploys Drone During Hazmat Incident

On July 24, 2024 Talbot County Emergency Services responded to a Hazmat incident on St. Michaels Road. During the incident, Emergency Services deployed the use of an Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS), commonly known as a drone, to provide visual support of the affected area. Read more

Talbot County Burn Ban Concludes July 21, 2024

Emergency Services Reminds Residents to Prepare Now in Advance of Predicted Busy Hurricane Season

With multiple weather forecasting services and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) predicting an exceptionally active 2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season, the Maryland Department of Emergency Management (MDEM) urges residents to begin their preparations now. “The NOAA 2024 hurricane forecast calls for more storms than ever before and it is important that all Marylanders take preparations seriously,” said MDEM Secretary Russ Strickland, “High winds, storm surge, tidal and inland flooding can all be deadly consequences of hurricanes and tropical storms.” Read more
