CPR Marathon

Talbot County Emergency Services is hosting its annual CPR Marathon as part of American Heart Month in partnership with University of Maryland Medical System Shore Regional Health, Talbot Paramedic Foundation, The Star Democrat, Talbot County Chamber of Commerce, 96.7 WCEI, and Talbot County Parks and Recreation.

The CPR Marathon invites residents to learn how to save a life by learning CPR and how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) from health professionals.

The free event will take place on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at the Talbot County Community Center, 10028 Ocean Gateway in Easton, starting at 9:00 a.m. and is open to the public.

Training will take place all day long, with class times at 9 AM, 11:30 AM, 1 PM, 2:30 PM, 4 PM, and 5:30 PM. A certificate will be provided upon completion of the American Heart Association Friends and Family CPR & AED training. Each class is approximately 60 minutes.

Rachael Cox, first responder and CPR class coordinator for Talbot County Emergency Services, said the event isn’t just about getting certified.

“The fact is this: the more people that know the basics of CPR and how to use an AED, the better chances a person could receive live-saving care during an emergency. If performed immediately, CPR can double or triple the chance of survival from an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.”

Registration for the event is requested. For more information about the event, contact Rachael Cox at rcox@talbotdes.org or visit https://talbotdes.org/cpr.asp.
