Skate Guards / Skate Rental

Summary:

The Skate Guard/Rentals staff ensures the safety of skaters on the ice while assisting patrons with skate rentals. This position requires providing excellent customer service, maintaining rental equipment, and enforcing rink rules to create a fun and safe environment for all participants.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the ice to ensure skater safety, enforce rules, and prevent unsafe behavior.
  • Assist skaters with putting on and returning rental skates.
  • Maintain and sanitize skate rental equipment.
  • Provide excellent customer service and answer questions about rink rules and policies.
  • Perform minor skate repairs or adjustments as needed.
  • Assist with rink setup and break-down for public skate sessions and special events.
  • Report any accidents or incidents to rink management.
  • Help with other duties as assigned, including crowd control and line management.

Qualifications:

  • Must be 16 years or older
  • Experience in facility maintenance or similar role.
  • Knowledge of ice resurfacing and refrigeration systems is preferred.
  • Ability to operate machinery (e.g., Zamboni) and basic hand tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a cold environment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
