Easton Airport announced a new logo, aimed at celebrating history and embracing the future.

Over the last 80 years, Easton Airport has been the aviation gateway to the Eastern Shore. As the premiere public airport in the area, the airport has served aviation enthusiasts, aircraft businesses, and travelers by providing safe operating principles, affordable quality facilities, leading edge technology, and a commitment to the future of aviation in Talbot County.

With that commitment in mind, Easton Airport stands to honor its history and embrace the future with a new brand identity.

Legacy and Modernization

The Quonset Hut Hangar, constructed during World War II, was the first hangar at Easton Airport and stands as a testament to the airport’s origins. In contrast, the Air Traffic Control Tower, which began operations in 2007, represents the technological advancements that have shaped the airport’s growth this century. Since its opening, the tower has recorded over 1,000,000 operations.

The new logo ties these elements together, symbolizing the bridge between historic roots and continued evolution in aviation.

The Quonset Hut Hangar and Air Traffic Control Tower are featured stops during many tours of Easton Airport.

“The process actually began during the planning of our 80th Anniversary, where the iconic Quonset Hut Hangar and the Air Traffic Control Tower were prominently featured in artwork created to mark the anniversary in 2023,” said Airport Manager, Micah Risher. “These two symbols, spanning our entire history, sparked conversations about modernizing our logo to better reflect the unique identity of the airport.”

The new logo, designed by Sarah Kilmon, Public Information Officer for Talbot County Government, took inspiration from the 80th Anniversary artwork and conversations with airport management.

“The 2023 poster, designed by Bay Imprint in collaboration with the airport, was a perfect testimony to honor the first 80 years. With the new logo, it was very important for us to capture the architectural uniqueness of the tower and the hangar, with a modern design that can be used for the next 80 years,” said Kilmon. “I’m deeply honored to be able to play a small part in the legacy of Easton Airport.”

Shaping the Future

The launch of this logo coincides with the first year of Easton Airport’s Airfield Modernization Program—the most transformative project since Easton Airport began operations in 1943. The initiative aims to enhance safety, improve efficiency, and meet the future needs of the community.

“As we look to the future, this logo will serve as a symbol of Easton Airport’s enduring legacy and its continued commitment to innovation, community engagement, and public service,” said Airport Manager Micah Risher. “Born out of the need for national defense during World War II, providing a base for Maryland State Police’s Trooper 6 helicopter, or serving as a base of operations for hundreds of pilots and businesses, Easton Airport has consistently been a lifeline for the region, playing a crucial role in both aviation and public safety. We are thrilled to embark on this new chapter with a logo that truly represents who we are—rooted in history, poised for the future, and always soaring above.”

Easton Airport’s rich history has paved the way for its current status as a thriving economic engine for the region. Home to a diverse array of aviation businesses and service providers, the airport plays a crucial role in the local economy while also nurturing the next generation of aviators through programs like the Aviation Career Education (ACE) Program and events like Easton Airport Day, returning October 12, 2024.
