EASTON MD ━ Council Members Pete Lesher, Keasha Haythe, Chuck Callahan, and Lynn Mielke met with Maryland Secretary of Commerce, Kevin Anderson (center) on June 14, 2023. The Department of Commerce aims to stimulate private investment and create jobs by attracting new businesses, encouraging expansion and retention of existing companies, and providing workforce training and financial assistance to Maryland companies. 

The Council participated in a roundtable with other local business leaders and officials to discuss highlights and challenges of economic development and commerce within Talbot County and the Eastern Shore. Council President Chuck Callahan thanked Secretary Anderson for coming and encouraged Commerce to support future initiatives in the area.
