Talbot County, in partnership with the Talbot County Health Department, will host a free First-Time Homebuyers Fair on Saturday, May 2, from noon to 3:00 p.m. at the Talbot County Health Department, 510 Cadmus Lane, Easton, MD 21601.

Designed for individuals and families considering homeownership, the “Home Start Housing Fair” will provide resources and guidance to help attendees take the first step with confidence. The event will feature a variety of local and regional partners who specialize in supporting first-time homebuyers.

Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with experts offering information on financing options, grant and assistance programs, credit readiness, and navigating the homebuying process from start to finish.

Recent data highlights the growing challenges facing first-time buyers. According to the National Association of Realtors, first-time homebuyers made up just 21 percent of the market in 2025; the lowest share since tracking began in 1981 and well below the historical norm of 40 percent prior to the Great Recession.

“This event is about making homeownership more accessible,” said Brennan Tarleton, Talbot County Planning Officer. “We recognize how overwhelming the homebuying process can seem, especially for first-time buyers. By bringing together trusted partners in one place, we hope to give residents the tools and knowledge they need to make informed decisions and achieve their goals.”

The event is free and open to the public.
