TALBOT COUNTY, MD – More than 200 seniors, caregivers, and community partners gathered for the Talbot County Commission on Aging’s annual Senior Resource Fair, a community event dedicated to promoting healthy aging, wellness, and access to local resources.
This year’s fair featured more than 40 vendors offering information, services, and support tailored to older adults and their families. Attendees also enjoyed live entertainment, interactive wellness demonstrations, health screenings, and opportunities to connect with organizations serving the senior community.
“The Senior Resource Fair continues to be one of the Commission on Aging’s most anticipated events because it brings together so many valuable services in one place,” said Wendy Palmer, Vice Chair of the Talbot County Commission on Aging and Director of Health Interventions at the YMCA of the Chesapeake. “The turnout this year was outstanding, and it was wonderful to see so many seniors actively engaging with vendors, participating in demonstrations, and learning about resources that can help them stay healthy, independent, and connected.”
Highlights from the 2026 Senior Resource Fair included:
- Interactive Fitness and Wellness Demonstrations – Melanie from Music and Movement led an engaging session featuring music therapy, chair yoga, and cardio drumming. Wendy Palmer also led an EnhanceFitness® demonstration focused on balance, strength, flexibility, and arthritis management. Participants actively joined the session and learned techniques to support healthy aging and mobility.
- Live Entertainment – Attendees enjoyed a special musical performance by the Bay Country Chorus.
- Health Screenings and Preventive Services – The Population Health team from University of Maryland Shore Regional Health assisted attendees with Advance Directives and provided A1c testing, while rehabilitation specialists conducted balance assessments.
- Public Health Resources – The Talbot County Health Department offered HIV and Hepatitis C testing, Cologuard kits, smoking cessation resources, and sign-ups for skin cancer screenings.
- Community Health Support – Mobile Integrated Health (MIH) staff provided blood pressure screenings and information about community-based health services available to residents.
The event was made possible through the support of numerous community partners and volunteers. Attendees enjoyed refreshments provided by Jamie’s Catering, and free transportation to and from the event was offered through Delmarva Community Transit (DCT).
