Corrections Facility Receives Recognition of Achievement Award

An audit of the Talbot County Department of Corrections (TCDC) was conducted on September 12-13, 2023 by the Maryland Commission on Correctional Standards, Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services. After a thorough review, TCDC was found to be in total compliance with all standards of an Adult Detention Center. This is Talbot County’s second time achieving total compliance in the initial audit. County Urges Property Owners to Scout for Noxious Weeds

As a service to Talbot County residents, the Talbot County, in cooperation with the Maryland Department of Agriculture, operates a weed control program to assist farmers, developers, owners of rights-of-way, agencies, and other landowners to control noxious weeds and can provide spot and boom spraying of approved herbicides for a reasonable hourly rate, plus the cost of herbicides used.  Read more

Upcoming Road Closure for Culvert Improvement on Goldsborough Neck Road

Starting on February 19th, (weather dependent), Goldsborough Neck Road will be closed to all traffic, and the road will need to remain closed for up to 30 days. Upper Shore Aging Opens Upgrades Computer Lab at the Talbot County Senior Center Brookletts Place

Talbot County Senior Center at Brookletts in Easton recently held a ribbon cutting to open its upgraded computer lab. Upper Shore Aging was awarded a $33,356 T-Mobile Hometown Grant to update the Talbot County Senior Center’s technology, including 20 new computer stations to provide the senior community with access to connectivity, classes, and hands-on learning opportunities. Brookletts Place, dedicated in 2009, is part of Upper Shore Aging, Inc., a nonprofit organization that is the designated Area Agency on Aging (USA) for Talbot, Caroline, and Kent counties. Repairing Talbot County’s Leeds Creek Bridge

Two Talbot County foremen, Mike Potter, at left, and Taylor Lowery, finish working on the Leeds Creek Bridge, which was constructed using timber in the 1960s. It needs frequent maintenance, and there have been meetings to consider replacing the wood with asphalt. On Thursday, five workers replaced nine wooden planks. Read more

On Sunday, December 19, 2021 at approximately 11:30 a.m., Talbot County 9-1-1 Center received a fire alarm notification from the Talbot County Courthouse, 11 North Washington Street, Easton. Upon arrival, fire units from Easton and neighboring fire departments found that a computer located in the Clerk of the Court’s office in the North Wing had caught fire which activated the sprinkler system in that area of the building. Talbot County Residents Receive Flood Insurance Rate Discount

Effective October 1, unincorporated areas of the county were designated Class 7 by the Federal Insurance Administration’s Community Rating System (CRS). As a result, homeowners will receive a 15% discount on their insurance premiums, an increase of 5%. Talbot County was previously designated Class 8, which gave policy holders a 10% discount.
